Privacy Policy
LAST UPDATED: MARCH 7, 2026
Current Era (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the Current Era mobile application and the website currentera.xyz (collectively, the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our Service.
By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address and, if you sign in via Apple or Google, your name as provided by that provider. We use Firebase Authentication to manage accounts securely.
1.2 Check-In Responses
When you complete a weekly check-in, we collect your responses to the three check-in questions. These responses are stored in Firebase Firestore and are used exclusively to generate your AI reading. They are private to you and not shared with other users unless you explicitly share an Era Bond.
1.3 AI Readings
The readings generated from your responses — including your era name, cinematic line, mood landscape, plot twist, and arc analysis — are stored in your account and visible only to you (and to any Era Bond partner you have connected with, for the fields you choose to share).
1.4 Photos (Optional)
If you choose to upload a photo as part of your profile or check-in context, it is stored securely in Firebase Storage. Photos are not shared with any third party and are not used to train AI models.
1.5 Push Notification Tokens
If you grant notification permissions, we store a device push token via Expo Notifications and Firebase. This is used only to send you your weekly check-in reminder and Wednesday Era Echo notification. We do not use push tokens for marketing without your explicit consent.
1.6 Usage Data
We may collect anonymized usage data (e.g., app open events, feature usage frequency) to understand how the Service is used and improve it. This data does not identify you personally.
1.7 Subscription and Payment Data
Premium subscriptions are managed through Apple App Store and Google Play. We do not store your payment card information. Subscription status is tracked via RevenueCat, which provides us with anonymized entitlement data.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To generate your weekly AI reading
- To maintain and authenticate your account
- To deliver push notifications you have opted into
- To manage your subscription and access to premium features
- To enable Era Bonds with users you have connected with
- To improve and debug the Service
- To communicate with you about service updates or support requests
3. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate the Service:
- Firebase (Google): Authentication, database (Firestore), file storage, and Cloud Functions. Subject to Google’s Privacy Policy.
- Anthropic / OpenAI: AI language model providers used to generate your readings. Your check-in responses are transmitted to these providers solely for the purpose of generating your reading. They are not used to train models. Subject to Anthropic’s and OpenAI’s respective privacy policies.
- RevenueCat: Subscription management. Subject to RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy.
- Expo: Mobile app platform and push notification delivery.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your readings or check-in responses with any third party except as described in Section 3 (for the purpose of generating your reading) or as required by law.
Era Bond sharing is voluntary and controlled by you. When you bond with another user, that user may see your era name and cinematic line for your current reading.
5. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your readings, responses, and profile data will be permanently deleted within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate personal data
- Delete your personal data (“right to be forgotten”)
- Restrict or object to processing of your data
- Data portability — receive your data in a structured format
- Withdraw consent at any time (where processing is based on consent)
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@currentera.xyz.
7. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used, the right to delete your personal information, and the right to opt-out of the sale of your personal information. We do not sell personal information. To exercise your rights, contact us at privacy@currentera.xyz.
8. Children’s Privacy
The Service is not directed to individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us immediately at privacy@currentera.xyz.
9. Security
We use industry-standard security measures including Firebase Security Rules, encrypted data transport (TLS), and secure authentication. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. International Data Transfers
Your data may be stored and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your information to countries outside your country of residence.
